Dell Technologies new cloud platform combines pieces from many sources, reports the Next Platform.
For more than a year, Dell Technologies has been putting together the pieces of its hybrid cloud strategy, a combination of its own hardware – in particular, the VxRail hyperconverged infrastructure appliance – and software and VMware technologies, including its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform and, more recently, the virtualization vendor’s Tanzu, a platform for Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native applications. Dell introduced its Dell Technologies Cloud platform last year and has been adding to it since.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) defines a hybrid cloud as one composed of two or more cloud infrastructures that enable data and application portability through the use of standardized or proprietary technology.

Spending on healthcare has skyrocketed globally in the last few decades. Between 2000 and 2016 alone, health expenditure in the US had doubled to nearly $3.3 billion. A sizeable chunk of this astronomical number is made up of administrative costs, averaging at 31%. As innovations in technology continue to offer solutions for real-world problems, cloud computing systems are single-handedly revolutionizing global healthcare. According to a report by West Monroe Partners, the health care industry is farthest along in cloud adoption, with the surveyed healthcare organizations housing almost 50% of their data and infrastructure in the cloud.
